DESCRIPTION:City Conversations\, our flagship invitation-only event\, provides business leaders with strategic briefings on a wide variety of topics that are of interest to those in senior management roles. The next City Conversations Breakfast Event takes place on Thursday 8th September in Plymouth's Foot Anstey.\n\n \n\nNone of the presentations are sales-based and the event is not suitable for solely business development-focused individuals.\n\n\n\nWe will hear from: \n\n\n\nHelen Hart\, Projects and Commercial Opportunities Manager\n\nHelen will be updating us on progress with the Local Skills Improvement Plan\, which aims to put employers at the very heart of the FE and Skills agenda.\n\n\n\nElaine Hayes\, National Marine Park Interim CEO\n\nElaine will give a high level overview of the development of the National Marine Park.\n\n\n\nLucinda Brook\, Low Carbon City Officer at Plymouth City Council\n\nLucinda will be sharing an update on the city's climate emergency response. This includes the development of a strategic roadmap to net zero for the city which will be part of a new\, city-led climate emergency website. This website will act as one common reference point for Plymouth's net zero mission\, around which all of the city's stakeholders can unite: residents\, small and large businesses\, community groups etc.\n\n\n\nCouncillor Rebecca Smith Plymouth City Council\, Violence Against Women Commission\n\n Cllr Rebecca Smith led the team responsible for writing the Commission report and recommendations on what the City should do to help women to be safe and feel safer. She will be joining us to highlight how local businesses play a key role in how the delivers the recommendations and explaining how you might be able to get involved.\n\n\n\nSimon Bird\, Community Support Officer\, Devon Communities \n\nSimon will discuss the two projects he is working on that are aimed at improving the life chances of young people designated as NEET (i.e.\, not in education\, employment or training). He will also share some insights from the projects into why young people become NEET\, he will also outline the benefits to employers of helping them to gain experience of the workplace.\n\n\n\nPlease email kelly.smithdevonchamber.co.uk if you would like to attend.
